My name is Jeff Hayward, and I was born and raised in Pierre, SD. Both of my folks were career state employees, which let me see firsthand the inside of our state government and the people who make it work. After college at USD, I began my career in workforce development.
I’m an Eagle Scout, and let the values of trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness and hard work guide me. Scouting also taught me a lot about leadership, and provided me the opportunity to step up to the plate - After several years serving in state and regional youth leadership positions, I was elected as the National Chief (Youth President) of the Boy Scouts of America's National Honor Society in 2004.
I’m the State Director of South Dakota Job Corps, a job training program for low-income youth. We help kids that have fallen through the cracks, provide them training in high demand industries and watch them start successful careers right here in South Dakota and become a contributing member of our communities.
I’m also a Small Business Owner, and know the hard work, long nights and dedication it takes to make it work. It’s allowed me to see firsthand how our government supports and sometimes restricts small businesses.
My wife Kristin and I were married in 2014 and live in Sioux Falls, SD with our two rescue dogs, Charley and Scooter.
